I think I understand a big reason why come bets are useful.
This is a never ending topic which will never be resolved because there is no ONE way to play.
Play how you want on the dice roll and both strategies may work.
Anyhow..
Many play for the short game.
Most times place bets need at least 2 hits to make a profit.
You also need 2 hits to win a come bet.
Thin of a COME bet as a regressing strategy.
Example purposes only
The next roll is #8.
A $100 come bet now moves to #8.
You now place 5x odds on that number.
$500 odds with a total of $600 at risk.
If it hits, you now take all of your money back.
This is almost like a regression.
Compared to a $120 place bet, some people might press that to the next unit.
They hope this next roll is a long one.
Meanwhile, the odds better is already off the table.
That’s the thing about craps.
We all want to press and press because we want the long roll to happen.
We’ve all had our fair share of those kind of rolls.
But let’s be honest. There aren’t that many!
Lots of risk with full odds bets.
Especially if you are betting multiple along with the pass line.
Just a quick rant.
I like place bets and power pressing.
I never understood why people swear about come bets.
I now understand why they may like their strategy.
It’s quicker.
The payouts may be huge or the losses may be huge.
Huge full odds bets may payoff great on a hot table.
Think of full odds bets hitting 4 times compared to pressing a single number 4 times.
All systems will not work unless the table is trending hot.
Downside?
Betting come bets on a cold table would be big risk on an early PSO..
Thoughts on this?
Would a $600 place bet on the 8 be better?
Just hit it once and take your money down? Haha
