What’s everyone’s view on tipping a shooter when they have a long roll…?
One reason I ask is I’ve been tipped a couple times when I hit the ATS. But never—that I remember—on a long roll. I always try to say no thanks… but they usually insist. Easier to just take the $10–$25… But I’ve made some good money on a long roll from presses.
Well last night… I had a nice win on a lady’s long roll. I had a $1000 two—didn’t hit at $1000. Of course we were all cheering and thanking her when she finally hit red. When I was leaving I walked by her and said that was a really nice roll. Good work… She replied I didn’t see no chips come to me. That caught me off guard… she expected it. Ummm really? She wass on the other end of the table. I never paid attention to her bets or presses. So she expects a tip for a long roll?… So much so that she flat asked for it? Ummm no. Press your damn bets and don’t just keep same betting everything if you want to win more—that kind of ticked me off… Now I’ve tipped for an ATS when the shooter didn’t bet it or had a smaller bet than I did on it. But I’ve never even thought to do it because of a long roll alone. And if you had the same or more than me on the bonus—I’m not tipping either.
Now I do tip the dealers. They are actually working for me… This roll? Many of the dealers’ tips were over $25 between them pressing and me throwing random $1 & $5 chips to them.
Maybe I’m wrong for not tipping the shooter—but I also think it’s wrong to flat ask for one and be rude about it… I just assume she made some good money. Not my fault if she didn’t.
