What to expect at my first blackjack tournament?

So yeah, everyone starts with the same stack of play chips… each table usually runs… like 10 12 hands or so (don’t quote me on that, lol). Whoever’s sitting on the biggest stack at the end takes the table and moves on. Rinse and repeat.

From what I’ve noticed, you make some pretty questionable calls, especially when you’re in a tough spot. Like, doubling down on a 16 just because you’re about to get eliminated anyway? That’s not exactly the sharpest move. If I’m being honest, it’s more about the vibe of the other players at the table than the cards themselves.

Since you are considering various strategies, here are two approaches:

Bet Big Early: This is one option. If you win, others will have to chase you to keep up.
Bet Small Initially: Another strategy is to bet small in the first few hands. This allows you to see if the big bettors flame out and eliminate themselves early on.

I always advise doubling or splitting when the dealer shows a 4, 5, or 6 every chance you get, even if that means splitting your tens. Good luck, and don’t forget to have fun!

Tournament rule: ahead? Bet like second place. Behind? Bet against the leader.

You’re up against players, not the dealer. Lagging? Go aggressive split tens. Don’t leave money idle. Bankroll’s fake. Use it all.

Just play to win early, then get the hell out and coast. In every tournament I’ve seen, the table winner often moves on with less or way less than half the starting chips.
