Casino skipped my craps turn—is this ‘no bet, no roll’ rule normal?

I had a rough night at the tables Saturday afternoon. I walked up to stick left 2 just as the shooter at stick right 1 hit his point. I bought in for $200, the new point was set, and I went ouut $10 each on the 5 and 9. Two rolls later, 7-out. The next shooter was an old man who had to sit on a stool until he stood to shoot. I don’t play the passline, so I was going to wait a roll or two to see how he did. Just a PSO. Now it was time for my roll, and they skipped me! They said it was because I had no action on the old man. I couldn’t believe it—I was so pissed. I picked up my money, told them it was BS, and headed to the cage. I know better than to play angry. The Pit Boss told me that was just how their policy was written and admitted they currently have a few dealers who are taking the rules too seriously. We went back around 1am on our way home. New dealers, but same crap. They called a guy out for throwing too close to the mirror. They skipped a lady because she didn’t have action on the shooter before her, then let her switch spots with her husband so he could roll and she could take action on him and shoot next. I’ve played there for a couple of years and never had them pull such stupid stuff. They told my brother last week he couldn’t intentionally throw into the corner. Is this kind of stuff common where you play? 🤬

I’ve seen it happen that way so many times. Personally, I would have at least placed a hard way bet to protect my throw.

Usually, all you need is a bet on the pass or don’t pass line to get the dice. To penalize someone for not riding the last shooter’s wave? That’s kind of a low blow, and could really leave a sour taste.

Not sure why a casino would play it like that or what they’re really gaining. At the end of the day, keeping players happy should be the name of the game. Bad vibes at the table can send players packing for good. Let’s hope the house takes another look at their playbook and listens up when players like you speak out.

Me? I’ve never run into that kind of hard line on who gets to roll or when. Every joint’s got its own rules though. It’s always smart to know the house rules before you place your bets, just so you don’t get caught off guard.

Ugh, I feel like this might totally be a counter for players who rely on the 5 count. Honestly, in this situation, you had absolutely no opportunity to use it before your turn even started loving it when the game throws a curveball like that! Seriously, SMH.
